We love our Northern capital, Northern Palmyra, the cultural capital, Northern Venice, St. Petersburg ... We constantly change Moscow to St. Petersburg - sometimes for business, sometimes just to relax, and sometimes we even think out things to walk around the courtyards of the Capella, look at the pyshechnaya on Bolshaya Konyushennaya, drink "Vasileostrovsky" cider in some institution in Rubinstein.
Our photo editor is a fifth generation St. Petersburg man who moved to Moscow five years ago. We asked him to view several thousand photographs of Alexander Petrosyan - probably the most “St. Petersburg” of modern photographers - and select those shots from which his heart shrinks from the love of his native city.
Alexander began to seriously engage in photography in 2000. In 2003, he became a photojournalist for the St. Petersburg city weekly “My District”, and in 2008 moved to the Kommersant Publishing House. His works have been published many times in Russia and abroad. Among the magazines with which he collaborated are Newsweek, National Geographic, GEO, Russky Reporter, and Spark.Alexander won the prize “Best Photographer”, “Photographer of the Year”, the prize of the Fund for the Development of Photojournalism and many others.
