South Africans are starting to support local fashion brands, and it is no secret why. The fashion designers have proved they are beyond talented.

Supporting out local talent is important, and it is great to see South African Fashion brands rising to the top of the ranks in the country.

So,Briefly.co.zadecided to take a look at five of the local brands that are dominating the menswear scene in South Africa.

1. Young and Lazy

The brand does not only create menswear, it has collections for women as well. The brand was started in 2009 by Anees Petersen in Cape Town.

2. Afrikan Swiss

Afrikan Swiss is a premier tailored denim brand designed by Thato Matabane, who is situated in Johannesburg.

Matabane had the opportunity to showcase his designs at the South African Fashion Week, which is a big deal for any designer.

3. Floyd Avenue

Floyd Manotoana is the master mind behind the fashion brand that offers urban streetwear. His designs draw inspiration from traditional and subculture elements.

4. Dope Store

Dope Store was founded by designer Andile Cele, who aims to create stunning streetwear clothing.

However, despite his talents, Cele was dropped from the SA Fashion Week earlier this year. AsBriefly.co.zareported previously, was set to show off his chic streetwear designs, he received an SMS to inform him he would no longer be partaking in the show.

5. Bi Parel

Shaylene Morris is the creator of the unisex brand that focusses on creating clothing that is comfortable and stylish at the same time. She takes inspiration from the Japanese culture.
